The morning Fiona died started like any other at the assisted living center--until she found herself floating above her bed where her body lay turning blue. Fiona’s consciousness is now in the form of an atomic configuration of subatomic particles with extra sensory powers and the ability to telepath and teleport. As Fiona struggles to make the most of her new existence, she desperately wants to avoid the mistakes she made in her past. Death has given her a second chance on the most level of playing fields. Everyone looks like a glowing ball of energy and subsists on sunlight. But right off the bat, she alienates her new friends and Fiona realizes that happiness still depends on dealing with her old baggage. She has to change—not the part where she is resourceful but the part where she is so angry and aggressive. At first, Fiona uses her new powers to confront her abusive childhood; then to restore the benefits of her lost body. Who knew that quantum mechanics could be so useful?
All seems to be going well until she and her new dead-self friends learn that these powers come at a price. Fiona, the retired Federal defense department contract specialist from the mountains of West Virginia, must now take on forces that make the international defense contractors of her past look like puppies in a woodpile. If she fails, she takes her new family down with her and puts the planet at risk.

A must for SCIFI and fantasy readers!

I have been reading science fiction and fantasy for almost 5 decades, and I love it. Sadly, it is seldom that you find a totally new concept as I have found in this book. I was surprised and fascinated with the authors idea of the afterlife.
The main character, Fiona, is a strong, independent and ballsy woman with her share of flaws. I adored her, and going along with her on adventures with her new dead friends.
This book has amazing characters, hard science, telepathy, teleportation, romance, mystery and red cowboy boots. What's not to love!

The afterlife might be fun

The title is intriguing. Most everyone wonders what happens after death. "Now That I'm Dead" takes an original and imaginative approach to a universal question. The story is a delightful adventure which could open new ways of thinking about death. It is fantasy, but not implausible. It draws unique dead characters who find even in the afterlife they need to get along and solve problems, The diverse characters are fully developed and the issues are real and significant. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Just wish it was longer!

Not your brother’s Science Fiction

Reading this book gave me a new way to think about what the afterlife might be like. It’s neither what you typically think of as heaven, hell, or nirvana. And it certainly beats a great nothingness. The main character is a likable woman who dies and then proceeds to make friends, have adventures and solve a mystery. It was a great read. I was thoroughly entertained and it left me looking forward to a sequel. I am recommending it to my book club.
